"This is my story, these are my rhymes, this is my moment or two... I just want a chance to follow my joy and see what it might lead me to." Don't we all.
If you haven't seen the documentary "Helvetica" then you may not immediately recognize the origins of this CD's title. Contained within the interviews about the most commonly used typeset in the world, is an explanation that it is not the visual of the letters themselves, but rather, the amount of space between the letters, which makes them so appealing. Hmmmn, the spaces in between the letters... It came to my attention at a time when I was struggling to make sense of this collection of offerings and their common thread... and there it was... These songs had all been created out of such spaces... those frustrating, heartbreaking, wonderful delays that were not at all part of my master plan... those experiences that gave me time and the colors I would need to develop into the woman, and mother, writer and musician I now am. From rural New Brunswick to a law degree, to dinner theatre, to recording and touring, to motherhood, to writing...to here. Welcome to my music and my website... I look forward to sharing the "beautiful detours" that lie ahead!
